Our client, one of the world's largest family-owned automotive suppliers, was looking for a solution to help them achieve a fully autonomous production line for loading and unloading six different metal parts. These parts need to be picked up, and based on which type of part they are, be placed in a certain place and orientation.
The parts are of high reflectiveness, different shapes, and appear in varying poses on the production line, all factors which prove difficult for traditional pick-and-place solutions.
After in-depth discussion with our client, our experts produced a setup using both our 2D and 3D camera in conjunction with our software system to assist the robot in identifying and precisely picking the target parts. Our world-class camera systems performed perfectly in the difficult reflective conditions, then allowing our AI-powered vision algorithms to flawlessly classify and determine the orientation of the 6 parts.
The solution has been deployed on their workstation for more than half a year without any lapses in uptime.
